The Long Road to Health
This year has seen a lot of growth for me on many levels. One of the great changes I made was to complete 90 days of a strict keto (almost carnivore) diet. I lost 40 pounds and really improved my health. While I've since fallen off that wagon I'm anxious to start again.
One thing I struggled with at the end was having my wife and daughter doing the same diet but really seeing no improvement. Then I stumbled on this discussion with Dr. Boz and what really stood out to me was the timeline she was talking about.
Not 90 days. 18 months!
Each of our bodies are different and for some reason it never occurred to me that sometimes reversing insulin resistance takes a long time. I was likely only seeing the tip of the iceberg of benefits I would get from eating keto.
It also seems from my experience that women take longer to adapt to diet changes and this seems to be supported by Dr. Boz - about 51 minutes into the video.
I saw noticeable results in the first 3 weeks. My wife was strict keto for a month and saw little to nothing from a weight loss perspective.
It leads me to believe I need to extend out my keto diet timeline to years instead of days to see the true benefits. I'm most anxious to reduce the brain fog I'm starting to see again. Sometimes you don't realize what you had until you lose it. Again! 😀
