What is Real?

What is Real?
Ironically generated by AI

There is an AI newsletter that I subscribe to that keeps me up to date on what is going on in the artificial intelligence sphere. At the end of each article they have a real image and an AI generated image of the same scene. Over the past few years it has gotten harder to tell and the results that they publish in the newsletter the next day, have gone from most people choosing the real image, to the point where now it's often the real image that is chosen significantly less by people trying to pick which is real.

I don't know what the end result of this artificial intelligence race is but the more I'm around it all the time the more I don't like it. I was troubleshooting a Meta ads issue recently and it kicked me to my Facebook feed which showed me a bunch of sensational Reels that, with further inspection, were all AI generated. It was awful.

AI makes up lies which then are fed into the training data of the next AI and truth becomes more and more muddled. The question of our age is going to be "what is real", if it isn't already.

I hate this in so many ways. Turn off the fake news and the fake "social" media and choose real in every moment of your life that you can. Maybe get a dumb phone and reclaim your life. I'm truly trying to figure out how I can make that work in my life.

Have a real conversation with a friend and make real eye contact with them without checking your phone. Listen fully to them. Engage with reality! Make a new human connection today.

Let's make choices that make the future more real than artificial so your children (and their children) grow up in a real world. Read a real book. Print some real photos.

I LOVE how real you all are. Sending real love your way.
